As a child, I observed my father painting on a canvas and his orchestration of color and brushwork on Paubha paintings mesmerized me. His influence established upon me an early pattern of taste and motivation of entering into world of collecting and exhibiting art. My interaction with art community - artist, scholars and collectors – made me realize that art, whether contemporary or traditional, should communicate an idea and I found that statement to be truly reflected by Newari and Tibetan Paubha and Thangka school of art. Thus, my most challenging journey since has been to build an important collection of paintings in a time of dwindling supply. Collecting is time, knowledge and resource consuming and my goal is, and has always been, to share tradition, techniques and narrative of Newari and Tibetan artist.
